Charles Garnier, Casino de Monte Carlo, 1878-79 The building was designed by Charles Garnier, the architect who also designed the Paris opera house. Both buildings were created in the pretentious, pseudo-baroque style, also called the Beaux Arts style. The reflective disc in the middle represents the ultimate symbol of play, the ball or sphere.
